19,343. Sharpe, J. K. Aug. 26. Thrashing-machines.-In an apparatus for removing the grain remaining in the thrashed straw and chaff just before stacking, the straw from the shakers and the chaff from the cavings riddle pass into a hopper 15, Fig. 4, which slopes towards the elevating-fan casing 17. Near the fan casing, an aperture is formed in the hopper bottom to receive a grain-catcher consisting of a plate 24, Fig. 5, suitably corrugated to provide guides down which the grain falls. An auxiliary blast-pipe 30, Fig. 2, from the fan blows the grain falling from the plate 24 under a deflector 23 fixed to the fan casing, the grain passing to a conveyer 41, or to a blast-pipe, which conveys it to the main grainconveyer 35. The inlet to the pipe 30 is provided with a covering of gauze &c.
