Abstract

17,790. Jacquier, G. Aug. 2. Wet processes of extracting metals; precipitating.-Metals are precipitated from solutions of their salts by treatment with artificial ultraviolet rays in the presence of aluminium. The process may be assisted by sunlight. In the apparatus described, mercury-vapour lamps 1 are suspended between aluminium plates 2 in the tank containing the solution to be treated. The lamps are suspended from a bar 5, and are kept submerged by pieces of quartz contained in glass vessels 11 suspended from the lamps by aluminium rings 10. The apparatus is otherwise as described in Specification 20,066/11. The lamps may be of the construction described in Specification 26,783/10, [Class 1 (i), Chemical processes &c.].
