Abstract
17,268. Goldschmidt, R. July 28. [Addition to 10,507/12.] Armatures and field-magnets.-In a highspeed rotor for high-frequency machines having segments of magnetic material separated from each other by radial gaps so that the centrifugal force of each is conveyed separately to the arms of the hub and not to the other segments as described in the original Specification, the arms of the hub are joined by a complete rim upon which the segments are mounted in positions independent of the disposition of the hub arms. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the segments of magnetic material a are centrally dovetailed at a<1> to the rim b', which joins the arms of the hub b. Each segment may alternatively be secured by two complete dovetails between its ends or by a half dovetail at each end. The dovetail may be formed on the segment, and the recess in the rim, or, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6 respectively, separate keys c or bolted dovetail blocks a<1> may be employed.
