[Cognate Application, 17,008/13.] Kinematograph apparatus.-In the production of a positive colour film of the kind in which each picture is a complete heliochrome which consists of superimposed prints in colour obtained from a negative band exposed through a series of simultaneously effective and appropriately colour-screened lenses 4 arranged along the course of the band, these lenses are so adjusted from the shaft 16 through the screw 20 as to form the image of a given point in the scene in corresponding position relatively to the film perforations in all the picture areas. To eliminate marginal fringing without interfering with the normal area of the prints, there is a slight enlargement or adjustment of the field by the lens-copying machine used for reproducing from the negatives. When printing from the negative band or from derived master negative bands, the printing may be done through a colour impression, in which case a screen of similar colour is used to screen the printing-light. The lenses used in taking the negative band may be contiguous or in open formation so that the-picture areas of a group are not contiguous, and one or more extra sprocket-holes may be allowed to each picture area. In order to ensure a constant multiplepicture shift, a given tooth of the intermittently driven gear 47 is arranged always to have the same relation to the last picture area of a group by making one complete revolution of the gear 47 feed the exact multiple shift required, the gear 47 being rotated once completely for each revolution of the driving-gear 44 by engagement of the pins 46 and the radial teeth on the gear 47, and being locked by the flange 45 during the inoperative part of the revolution of the gear 44.
