Balls.-A soft core for a golf or other ball is made of a compound of pure rubber, sulphur, and a non-volatile hydrocarbon softening-agent such as petrolatum or a suitable oil, mixed in such proportions as to produce the desired degree of softness, and subsequently vulcanized. The specific gravity of the core may be increased by the addition of litharge. The ball is completed by means of rubber windings and a gutta-percha cover.
