B44F9/10—Designs imitating natural patterns of metallic or oxidised metallic surfaces
Abstract
15,718. Moncany, J. P. L. G. July 8. Embossing.-In a method of producing embossed composite metal-plate reproductions of engraved metal-work, an electrotype negative is taken from the engraved or etched metal-plate and from this electrotype a positive counterpart in paper board, leather, &c. faced with guttapercha is made by pressure in the usual way. A sheet of lead, tin, or an alloy of these metals. is embossed between these dies, and is then strengthened by an electro-deposit of copper on both sides. Finally, the plate may be nickeled, silvered, or gilded. If the design has very high reliefs, the embossed plates may be strengthened at the back by a composition consisting of sealing-wax and " Chatterton."
