Abstract
14,597. Innerd, G., and Young, W. June 24. Catch gear of mine-cage type.-Comprises a combination of parts forming a safety suspending-apparatus for lift cages, of the type in which a pair of shafts carrying cam - shaped guideengaging grips are arranged transversely across the top of the lift cage and are turned into the non-engaging position against the action of springs by cords connected at one end to the shafts and at some other point to the suspension apparatus of the cage. The apparatus comprises a central bracket l through which passes transverse shafts c, c<1> mounted in bearings d and carrying cam grips e. Springs are connected to arms k on the shafts and to the central bracket. Cords h, connected at their ends to the corners of the cage and to pulleys i on the shafts, are passed through the suspension ring of the cage, and normally rotate the shafts against the action of the springs so that the cams are disengaged from the guides. An alternative arrangement of the parts is shown for cages having four guide ropes. The transverse shafts are arranged at opposite sides of the cage, and the guides are gripped between the cams and brackets on the corners of the cage.
