Abstract

Launching torpedoes.-Relates to torpedo tubes mounted rotatably on a vertical axis in submarine boats, and consists in mounting the tubes in two superimposed pairs, and so as to be capable of movement in the direction of their lengths. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the tubes are geared together in horizontal pairs 7, 8 by gears 20, 15 worked by handles 14 for sliding the tubes towards sluice gates 16 in the sides of the boat for discharging the torpedoes. For loading the tubes, they are swung round their vertical axis through 90 degrees. In a modification, the tubes are geared together in vertical pairs. In the first arrangement, each pair is independently rotatable on the vertical axis, but in the second arrangement, the two pairs rotate together.
