Abstract

Winding - machines. -Relates to traverse mechanism for machines for winding wire, yarn, thread, &c., of the type wherein the guide is reciprocated by an oscillating arm to which it is connected by a link, the points of connexion of the link to the arm and to the traverse guide being adjustable towards and away. from the axis of oscillation of the arm to vary the traverse. An arm T, secured to a sleeve p that carries the traverse guide, is provided with a slot t' which is similarly graduated to the slot in an arm K oscillated by a cam C, so that by adjusting the ends of the connecting-link U in these slots, it may be maintained parallel to the guide-rod of the sleeve p whatever its distance from the axis of the arm K. The ends of the link are provided with pins extending through studs, which are secured in the slots and are provided with nuts and washers carrying pointers w<1>, z<1> which register with the graduations on the arms. The nuts and washers of the end connected with the oscillating arm are arranged above the end of the link as shown, so that the link may be adjusted close to the hub of the arm.
