13,146. Neave, F. June 6. Shears and like shearing-instruments.-Hand shears &c. for cutting corrugated iron or other material, opening tins, severing pipes, &c. comprise a body 2 having a handle 1 and cutting- edge 16 and a sliding cutter 12 operated by levers 9, 6. The levers 9, 6 are pivoted at 13, 5, and the cutter 12 is guided by a pin 15 and a cover-plate (not shown). The cutter is moved down by a spring 21 engaging the handlever 6, and the cover-plate may be extended downwards and formed with a cutting-edge, so that the cutter 12 removes a thin strip from the material being severed.
