Disk apparatus. - A machine for surfacing table-knives having a concave strengthening at their ends comprises grinding - wheels f spring-pressed towards the work-slides r. The work-slides are moved endways to carry the work over the grinders by means of pivoted links s and a cam-disk v, and at the same time the grinders are moved inwards to operate on the surface of the bolster and then along the blade, by the action of levers l and cams n in conjunction with the springs on the grinder axles. The rods r upon which the workslides travel may be turned slightly by the link E and crank gearing D to permit cooting-water to pass between the work and the grinders. The machine may be adapted for surfacing scissor or pocket-knife blades.
