Abstract

11,675. Fabre, H. May 24, 1912, [Convention date]. Floats for aerial machines.-A central hull 1 of a hydro-aeroplane in contact with the water when at rest or travelling at a slow speed is provided with two parallel hydroplane floats 2 situated lower than the hull 1 and in front of the centre of gravity of the machine. The floats 2 are arranged so that the reaction of the water at high speeds passes through the centre of gravity of the aeroplane, and so as to afford lateral stability. A pivoted submerged plane 19 is similarly situated. The floats 2 are mounted on spring - controlled articulated parallelogram frames which are connected by cables passing in front of the propeller 6. By this means the angle of the floats 2 is unaffected by their movement. In a modification, a submerged rear plane is fitted and is connected to and operated by the gear that operates the aerial rudder.
