Covered boxes; boxes designed to be of variable capacity.-An extensible suit case consists of two portions, each comprising a central section A, Fig. 1, and end sections B adapted to slide on the central section, flanges 15 on the sections B embracing the upper edges of the section A. The sections are moved simultaneously by means of racks 19 secured to anglebars 21 engaging pinions 18, and are secured by pins 26 inserted in holes 27. The covering of the sections B may pass through slots below the flanges 15, so as to leave the latter uncovered. In a modified form, the sections B are provided with bars 19<a>, Fig. 8, a pin 26<a> on one bar being adapted to engage one of a series of holes 27<a> in the other bar and a locking-sleeve 28 being provided.
