Endless moving sieves; separating by passing over or through graduated apertures.-A grading or sorting machine for fruit, eggs, bulbs, nuts, &c. comprises two or more endless traversing bands a, b .. of rubber or the like disposed in alinement or at different levels, and having different sized holes m, n .. therein through which the graded fruit &c. is delivered into separate trays or collecting-tables. In the arrangement shown, the bands are supported at different levels by rollers e, f mounted in the side frames, the spaces between the rollers f, e being filled in by canvas strips p. The hopper q may have a stationary or movable bottom. To prevent the holes from being blocked, brushes s and rollers t are provided. The fruit is delivered into collecting-trays arranged underneath the perforated bands, the openings for the trays being closed by shutters w which arc under the influence of weights x, or springs. Or the trays and shutters may be dispensed with, the fruit being delivered to fixed collecting-tables.
