Stopping pipes and tubes.-A stopper for use in testing drain-pipes &c. by fluid-pressure comprises a flexible handle 1, preferably of coiled metal strip, ending in a substantially spherical guide member 3 fitted with antifriction balls 5. A bag 9 normally housed within the member 3 is connected to a tube 7, the protruding end of which is protected by a removable cap 6. When the device has been inserted past the joint to be tested, the cap 6 is removed, and the bag 9 is pushed out of the member 3 by means of the tube 7, through which it is then inflated to stop the pipe as shown in Fig. 4. A valve 12 is provided between the tube 7 and the inflating-pump 11, allowing the tube to be opened to the atmosphere to deflate the member 9 after use.
