Manure and like distributors.-Apparatus for distributing insecticides, manures, and other powders by means of an air blast comprises an air-pump having a reciprocating piston and a conical hopper provided with an adjustable valve outlet and a rotary agitator adapted to be raised intermittently. The pump a forces air into a tube o into which the powder passes through a hole in a rotary plate j, which registers periodically with a hole in an adjustable plate l at the base of the conical hopper e. The piston and outlet of the pump are provided with non-return valves n, p, respectively. The hopper outlet is closed while the piston b descends. The piston may be driven from a shaft c operated by means of a hand-crank d. The shaft c is connected by bevel gearing g to a shaft k carrying the valve plate j. The agitator f is mounted loosely on the shaft k and pushed down by a spring h. It is rotated by engagement with a cam i which lifts it when it meets an obstruction. Attached to the delivery pipe o is a flexible or other tube carrying a nozzle which may consist of two cones q, r, with an outlet space s between them. The apparatus may be carried like a knapsack, wheeled like a barrow, or drawn by horses, and may be driven from the travelling wheels. According to the Provisional Specification, the apparatus may comprise a fan, bellows, &c., and the air blast may be continuous.
