Type-wheel actions; keyboards.-Relates to keyboard and like setting-mechanism for registering and printing-apparatus such as cash registers, wherein one or more rows of keys are provided, and each row is adapted to project two or more stops into the path of, and to limit the movement of, differentially movable members which through yielding connexions actuate type-wheels or the numerals wheels of a totalizer. The key-levers 5 are rotatably mounted on a spindle 3, and each lever has a cross-bar at its end provided with pins 6, adapted when the lever is turned to the right or left to release the corresponding stop-lever 7, which is thereby rocked so as to move a shield 9 to expose the digit corresponding to the key operated. Each lever 7, when rocked, carries a stop 10 thereon into the path of differentially movable members 1 mounted on a spindle 39. When the mechanism is inoperative, the differential members 1 are held in their normal positions by tappets or stops 19 mounted on levers 16, which are rocked by the stop levers 7 when a key is operated to withdraw the tappets from the path of the members 1 and cover the ciphers 0, which are normally exposed. The differential members 1 are operated by rocking levers 26, which through bars 27 raise and lower a transverse bar 30, by means of which racks 32 are actuated to rock the differential members until they are arrested by the projected stops 10. The racks 32 are connected by springs 31 to the transverse bar 30 and, through other gear-wheels 34, 35, 36, actuate type-wheels 37, from which an impression can be obtained by raising a platen 41. Key interlocks.-The levers 7 for each denomination are held in their set position by means of catches 11 mounted on a spindle 12, and the operation of a second lever in any denomination returns the first lever to its normal position. The return of the levers may be. effected by rocking the zerokey to the right and left or by the depression of a special key 23. The wedge-shaped part 24 of the key-lever 23 rocks a pair of levers 25 to release the catches 11 simultaneously.
