Liquid-fuel furnaces. - In a locomotive firebox, burners 5, 6 may be arranged in the front wall, as shown in Fig. 3, air being supplied through tubes 21 and damper-controlled inlets 23, 24. In modifications, the burners project through the back or side walls of the furnace, or are fitted in two or more of the firebox walls.
