Abstract
8159. Stern, P. April 7. Protectors, construction of; protectors securing.- A rubber heel-protector f has an embedded plate e of concave form, to which the securing-screw c is riveted. The screw is adapted to be inserted in a socket b screwed into the heel, the protector f being flattened out as the screw is inserted ; the edges of the protector are thus held tightly against the tread. The thread of the socket is preferably in the opposite direction to that of the screw c. The plate e is formed with holes g through which the rubber passes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 24,194/99 and 22,855/02.
