7357. Dunn, L. S. March 28. Compound fabrics.-A material for covering the framework or forming the bodies of motorcars, side-cars, &c., or for application to thin two or more ply wood, consists of layers of calico or stockinet, with fine wire-gauze between the layers, which are cemented together with shellac and moulded under heat and pressure. The fabric is stretched on a frame and coated with a solution of shellac, other layers being added until the required thickness is obtained. When dry, the material is put into a steam chamber and rolled to press the shellac into the fibres, after which it can be blocked into the required shapes.
