6394. Augestad, A. March 14. Soles.-A wooden sole is formed of a fore-part 1 and a heel part 2 connected together by a strip 6 of leather, rubber, or the like situated in undercut recesses 3, 4 in the sole. The line of division extends obliquely across the sole a little behind the position of the tread ball of the foot. An elastic metal strip or plate 10 extends over the middle part of the leather strip 6, and is secured near its ends to the sole and the heel by screws 11, 12. Pins 18, 19 engaging in recesses 15, 16 in the plate 10 are driven into the sole to prevent the plate from moving.
