Abstract

4309. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Feb. 19, 1912, [Convention date]. Void. [Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Mounting and supporting.-Disturbing- vibrations in rotary machines with pulsating torque are restricted as much as possible to that part of the machine which is subjected to the direct influence of the impulse. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, a projection b on the stator s is connected to the foundation c through springs f. In a modification, elastic layers p, Fig. 3, are interposed between the stator and a special foundation d. In addition, the vibration of the stator itself may be partly suppressed by increasing its mass and by suitably selecting the elasticity and strength of the resilient connexion. In the arrangements shown in Fig. 3, the suppression of the vibration may be effected by providing the stator with a separate foundation above the elastic layers p, which increases the weight of the vibrating system.
