Abstract
2672. New Oil Refining Process, Ltd., and Rossini, J. L. Feb. 1. Mineral oils, purifying; mineral oils, polymerized. - A spontaneously-drying petroleum product is obtained by treating crude volatile spirit containing unsaturated hydrocarbons, with sulphuric, phosphoric, or other oxy-acid and afterwards with ammonia, soda, or other alkali, and then distilling to separate unpolymerized volatile spirit from the residue, which contains products polymerized by the action of the acid, and which has the desired drying- properties. The crude spirit is preferably that obtained by cracking heavy oils by the process described in Specifications 13,675/08 and 28,460/11, [both in Class 32, Distilling &c.], and distilling the products up to 390‹ F.
