Abstract

1229. Griffiths, W. Jan. 15. Vacuum cleaning-apparatus.-A suction nozzle comprises a casing a open underneath, which contains a sliding brush or pad b. As the nozzle is moved over the floor in any direction, friction causes the brush or pad to move backwards relatively to the casing a and leave a section orifice c at the front which communicates by an aperture c' in the back of the casing with the suction tube d. The sides of the casing may be provided with strips of felt a' and the sliding part b may have elliptical bearings to allow of a simultaneous rocking motion.
