Abstract
1198. Landi, [nÚe Riccardi], L. May 15, 1912, [Convention date]. Revolution - direction i n d i c a t o r s . - Three electro-magnets are provided and are adapted when energized to control the positions of an indicating-pointer, the central position of which indicates that the machine or engine is at rest. A diagrammatic view of the apparatus is shown in Fig 1. A speed indicator is used in conjunction with the direction indicator, and when the pointer 37 thereof is in its zero position, a commutator disk 21<1> completes a circuit through an electro-magnet E, the armature of which is attracted so as to break a circuit through spring blades 34. When the shaft is rotating, the circuit is completed through the blades 34 and at the same time a shaft 40 connected to the s p e e d indicator rotates in the same direction on the shaft and completes a circuit by means of the knives 26 or 27 through either of the magnets E<11>, E<1>. Energizing the magnets E, E<1>, E<11> causes a lever 18 attached to the armatures to disengage the clutch members 3, and, through a lever 19, rocks a striker 16, which is adapted to engage a heart-cam 12 secured to the revolution-indicator spindle 4 in order to rotate the spindle and move the pointer into a position corresponding to the magnet energized. An insulating disk 7 rotates with the spindle 4 and a condncting-blade 8 thereon at a certain point leaves the corresponding circuit-brush 9 or 11 and breaks the circuit, thus allowing the armature and clutch member to rise to lock the pointer in the set position. The breaking nf the circuit is ensured by means of a wheel 14 and a spring detent 15 engaging therewith.
