Abstract

28,662. Chapallaz, F. Dec. 12. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Fixed multiple-chamber apparatus with open chambers. - Two superposed measuring-vessels 1, 2 are provided with multipleway cocks 5, 6 and a two-way cock 3 which are interconnected in such a manner that the contents of the lower vessel, or of the two vessels, may be delivered at will. The cock 5 allows communication between the supply and vessel 1 or between the latter and the delivery nozzle 20, and the cock 6 permits escape of air from the vessel 2 through bores 16 and from the vessel 1 through bore 30 in cock 3 and the pipe 19 The cock 3 consists of a main portion 21 provided with the air passage 30 and a liquid duct 29, and a subsidiary part 22 in the form of a sleeve having a groove 26 and actuated by the main portion 21 through a pin and slot. When the main portion is turned, communication through ducts 29, 30 is closed before the air vent provided by the groove 26 is opened. The handles of the cocks 3, 5 are connected by a rod 12, and the cocks 5, 6 are connected by a rod 10. By turning the cock 5 through a right-angle, both vessels are filled, the air escaping through pipe 19 and ducts 18. To deliver from the lower vessel only, the handle of cock 3 is turned back again, thus turning all the cocks to the position shown in Figs. 2 and 3, so that the vessel 1 empties and air can enter through the groove 26. In order to discharge both vessels, the cock 3 is turned to permit communication between the two vessels and this movement of the cock does not affect the other cocks owing to a pin-and-slot connexion between the handle of cock 3 and the rod 12.
