Abstract

27,892. Fischer, O., and Fischer, O. Dec. 3. Tying or knotting.-In a warp-tying machine wherein a series of warp threads are knotted to corresponding warp threads in another series. a warp thread is separated from each series and moved into position to be engaged between a stationary gripper 53, Fig. 6, and a gripper 54, which is depressed by a cam and spring- pressed rod. A knife then cuts the ends of the warp threads, and a cam-controlled presser 59 draws the threads through the grippers 53, 54 and between the gripper 53 and a member 53<a> to make the threads sufficiently slack for the knotting operation. The threads are then engaged by an ascending fork 67, Figs. 5 and 6, operated by cams 62, 63 and levers 64, 65, 66, and are thereby moved to the knotter 68, which comprises a pointed tubular member or sleeve 69, Fig. 10, having a slot 70 to receive a flat book 71 pivoted at 72 to the sleeve and provided with a notch 86. A rod 73 situated within the sleeve and rotating therewith has a cross-pin 74 engaging an oblique slot 75 in the hook. The hook normally protrudes from a slot 85 in the underside of the sleeve. The knotting operation is shown diagrammatically in Figs. 18, 21, and 22, wherein, however, one only of the two threads to be knotted is shown. The threads engaged by the fork 67 are first caused to loop round the sleeve by rotating the sleeve. The fork 67 then advances, as shown in Fig. 22, and the thread ends held by the grippers 53, 54 are caused to engage the notch 86, the presser 59, Fig. 6, having meanwhile receded so as to slacken the threads. Cam-operated shears then advance and cut the threads between the fork 67 and grippers 53, 54, and the rod 73, Fig. 10, is then withdrawn by the action of a roller 83 on a cam-disk 82 fixed to the rod. The hook is thereby rocked and draws the threads through the slot 85, an inclined surface 89 causing the threads to move towards the point of the knottter, off which the loosely-looped threads are stripped by a curved arm 90, Fig. 5, the ends of the threads being temporarily held by the notch on the hook, so that knots are made, which arc subsequently pulled out of the notch by the arm 90.
