Starting.-A switch in the circuit of an electric motor used to turn an internal-combustion engine cannot be closed until the levers normally used to control the ignition and carburettor throttle are moved to the ignition-retarding and throttle-closing position. The two control levers b, c are insulated and connected to the motor circuit, and have to be moved over two electrically-connected stops k, l to complete the circuit. A number of dummy stops n may be formed on the wheel h. In a modification the two levers coact with a spring-pulled plate, which opens the switch in the motor circuit except when both the levers are in the correct starting position.
