Brackets, lamp. - A coupling for attaching lamps &c. to motor and other vehicles, comprises a taper dovetail plug a<1>, detachably fitting in a plug member b and locked therein by a rotatable and spring-actuated taper bolt c, one part of the coupling being carried by the lamp and the other part by the vehicle. The plug has a recess d, and the bolt has a recess c', so that, when the bolt is turned to bring the recess c<1> into correspondence with the socket aperture, the plug may be inserted or removed, and when the bolt is turned so that the part c<2> thereof fits in the recess in the plug, this is locked in position. A spring c is inserted between the end e<2> of a housing on the socket member and a collar e<3> carried by the bolt, and the collar f<3> formed on the socket member has notches f<1>, f<2> and cam surfaces f<4>, which are engaged by projections f on the handle end of the bolt. These projections occupy the notches f<1> when the bolt is in the locking position and the notches f<2> when in the unlocked position, the movement from the notches f<1> to the notches f<2> compressing the spring, so that the return to the locking position is automatically effected by the spring on slightly rotating the bolt towards the locking position. In place of a compression spring a spring adapted to be tensioned by the rotation of the pin may be used, the cam surfaces and the notches being then dispensed with.
