Switches, quick-action; springs, arrangement of.-A switch for prepayment meters of the type described in Specification 26,966/06, is closed by one spring, retained closed against the throw-off action of a second spring, and is tripped by a fly-wheel which is driven by a third spring wound up by the act of closing the switch. When the operator rotates a spindle s, Fig. 4, a cam t acts upon a member u and turns a lever b, against the resistance of a spring r, so as to bring a bell-crank lever o pivoted thereon into engagement with a pin p on a switch arm a controlled by a throw - off spring w. Simultaneously a sector c on the lever b rotates a spindle e, Fig. 1, carrying a disk f, and a projection g on the disk engages a pin h on a fly-wheel i, which is loose on the spindle e but connected by a spring m to the disk f. The fly-wheel is thus carried round by the disk, and at the end of its movement a spring detent k engages a cam j on the fly-wheel and locks the latter against return movement. By this time the lever u has escaped from the cam t, and the spring r returns the lever band with it the switch arm a, thereby closing the circuit through the switch block a<1>. During the return movement of the lever b, the sector c rotates the spindle c in the opposite direction and winds up the spring m which connects the locked fly-wheel i and the disk f. At the conclusion of the supply the detent k is tripped, whereupon the spring m rotates the fly-wheel. A projection n on the wheel trips the bell-crank o, thus permitting the throw-off spring w to open the switch.
