Abstract

24,139. Winslade, W. Oct. 22. Bottling.-Relates to bottling-apparatus of the kind provided with an air-chamber to receive the air and gas displaced by the liquid during filling, and consists in the combination of a filling-head a, Fig. 1, in connexion with the air-chamber f, a filling-tube b having a coned packing d adapted to extend into aud make joint with the interior of the bottle neck, and a central air-duct. The airduct is so arranged that its lower end is approximately level with the top of the neck of the bottle being filled. The filling-tube and taper packing- ring may be flanged to facilitate their attachment to the filling-head by separate means such as the nut l, Fig. 1. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement for adapting the invention to a filling-head previously intended to make joint with the outside of a bottle neck. A tubular packing-piece q is fitted within the existing packing-ring p, and a flanged or taper filling-tube r and taper packing u are secured by a flanged nut t, and the existing air-tube is extended by a piece g to about the level of the neck of the bottle when in position for filling.
