Abstract

22,040. Hampson, J. Sept. 27. Reels or bobbins.-A device for holding a reel or the like provided with means for retaining the loose end of the cotton or silk comprises a spiral spring c, between the turns of which the cotton is held, and which is held so as to extend across the flanges of the reel by means of a piece of wire a preferably springy and flat which is bent at right-angles. as shown at Fig. 2, and threaded through the aperture in the reel. Fig. 4 shows a modification of the device in which an arm g is hinged to the stem a and the tension of the spring is adjustable by means of a winged nut m. Fig. 5 shows a construction in which the length of the arms of the device may he altered by providing each part as shown with a strap which slides over the other part. The extremity of the device is formed into a cutting-edge at e on which the cotton &c. may be severed.
