Abstract

18,571. Sedneff, C. de. Aug. 13. Electrodes, pasted, for lead accumulators, of the kind consisting of a prism of lead pierced with series of holes a, Fig. 1, each series being adjacent to and at an angle to that preceding, so as to form intercommunicating cells, are now provided with ribs b, Fig. 10, within the holes a, projecting into the paste therein. The ribs b may be 1 mm. thick, and the spaces between them from 1 to 2 mm. The holes taper towards the middle of the prism. Ribs which are not shown as united to the sides of the holes are secured at their ends. Such electrodes, with holes at right-angles, may be cast in a mould composed of top and bottom pieces and four movable side-pieces, each of the latter bearing half-cores, which abut against those on the opposite side to form the holes in one direction, grooves being provided in the cores to form the internal ribs b within the holes. The prismatic electrodes may be coupled in series or parallel, and may be grouped to form plates.
