Partitioned and cellular boxes.-A box for holding fruit &c. during transit is fitted with a loose tray or framework 2 divided into compartments by means of tapes &c. 3 and covered with a sheet 4 of yielding fabric, such as stockinet or other knitted or netted material, drawn down in the centre of each compartment as at 4<1>, and suitably anchored so as to form a series of conical pockets. The underside of the lid is also shown fitted with a depending frame 9 divided into compartments and covered with yielding fabric 10. The partitioned tray 2 is preferably covered also with a sheet of felt &c. 11 formed with scalloped apertures of approximately the diameter of the articles to be carried, and with a loose layer 12 of very soft packing- material, such as cotton wadding. A similar layer 13 is placed over the fruit before the lid is placed in position.
