Tobacco.-In a machine for stemming and booking tobacco the leaves are fed from. a table 42, Fig. 1, mounted on a framing 40, pivotably mounted on a shaft 41, and are guided by a wire 56 resting in an annular groove on a roller 53 on to a drum formed in two sections 14, 15, Fig. 3, and there cut between annular flanges 18, 23 on the drum and cutters 30 with resilient material 31 mounted between. The flange 18 projects from the neck 17 secured to the head 16 of the drum 14 carried by the shaft 2, which also carries, slidably-mounted thereon, the drum 15 provided with a head 21 having a neck 22 from which projects the flange 23.
