[Cognate Application 17,020/12.] Trimming - apparatus.-Comprises means for drawing ships' cargo towards the central longitudinal trough of the hold for delivery to the discharging conveyer beneath. The floor of the hold is provided with rails a3 along which travels a frame d provided on each side of the trough with scraper conveyers C actuated through worm gearing from a motor E. After the discharge of part of the material by gravity through the doors in the trough, the frame is run out of a housing at the end of the hold, and the remainder is discharged by the operation of the scrapers. The apparatus permits the floor a of the hold to be made horizontal, or even inclined downwards away from the trough, thus increasing the capacity of the hold. In a modification, the scrapers run round sprockets with horizontal axes. In a further modification, worm conveyers are employed.
