Templets.-A curve-drawing appliance comprises a flexible rule 48 connected by universal joints to a number of rods 45 longitudinally and rotatably adjustable in carriers 8, which are adjustable along a base 2. The carriers 8 are formed with dovetailed grooves 12 engaging over corresponding ribs 4 on the bar 3 comprising the base 2, and are secured in their adjusted position by means of a clamp 13, Fig. 8, which is formed with a recess 15 engaging the bar 3 and is clamped against the bar 3 by means of the screw 16. The rods 45 are adjustably held in the carriers between spring-pressed jaws 24, 25, which can be forced apart by tapered shanks 40 carried by caps 38 adapted to be pressed together against the action of springs 41. The jaws 24, 25 are rotatably mounted in a central opening of a barrel 18, which is itself rotatably mounted in the carrier 8 and can be clamped by a screw 60. Each rod 45 is pivotally connected to a head 49, in which is rotatably mounted a disk 53, with a recess receiving a pin formed on the rule 48. The movement of the disk is limited by a screw 56 working in an arcuate slot 55 in the head 49, the screw 56 also serving to secure the pin in the disk 53.
