Abstract
9945. Ivey, W. J. H., and Hughes, W. April 26. Linear-dimention. gauges.-Relates to rail gauges of the type in which a pair of flanged wheels are mounted to slide along their axle and to indicate the distance between the rails. The wheels are now provided with long sleeves W<1> flanged at the inner ends to engage follower sleeves D, which have pins J to engage the slotted ends of a pair of pivoted arms B pressed apart by a spring C. One arm carries a pointer K to read against a scale M on the other arm. A screwed crank R is fitted to set the arms B for removal from the pins J. The pivot of the arms may be attached to a slide T which can be raised to disengage them from the pins by a screw U. This apparatus may be attached to a trolly, or may be formed into a trolly in combination with a frame B<2> carrying a pendulum C<3> for showing superelevation, and carried on a screwed axle.
