8055. Clark, W., and Andrew, J. P. April 3. Ladders; scaffolding and staging.-Relates to ladder scaffolding of the kind in which an inclined ladder, supported on the ground or from the ridge of a roof, carries an adjustable platform supporting a second ladder. The platform 1 engages the inclined ladder sides, is clamped to the rungs by hooked bolts 4 and nuts, and is adjusted to be horizontal by side struts 9 and pivoted ties 13. The struts 9 are connected by a cross-bar 10 engaging the ladder sides, and are notched at the upper ends to engage studs 12 on the platform. The ties 13 consist of two telescopic slotted bars with serrated engaging faces, and clamped together by bolts and nuts. The ladder 3 is secured to roof ridges by a hook 22, clamped to the rungs by hooks 23, 24, with or without an additional hook 25, the hooks 24, 25 being secured in position by clamping-nuts. A roller 26 on the hook 22 assists the movement of the ladder on the roof. The second ladder rests against a bar 18 damped to the platform by hooked bolts 19.
