Piston apparatus for discharging receptacles.- A grease pump or syringe for lubricating purposes comprises a barrel a, open at one end, and a combined plunger and rod b of a diameter r a t h e r smaller than that of the barrel. In use, some of the grease e n t e r s the annular space between the barrel and the plunger, and forms an automatic gland, rendering a separate screw cap and gland unnecessary. The b a r r e l terminates in a nozzle a<2>, and may have an extension piece a<3> for use in places difficult of access.
