3280. Dewhurst, W. E. Feb. 9. Turn-bolt door fastenings.-Relates to fastenings for the doors of refrigerating - c h a mbers, ovens, railway wagons, &c., of the kind in which the operation of the fastener tightly closes the door or starts the opening movement. when engaged with or disengaged from the e staple. The fastener comprises a rotary cam i of disk formation, and a staple c which is inclined on its inner and outer surfaces as shown. In fastening the door, the part i<1> of the cam engaging the staple at its upper wide portion jams the door on its seating; after the cam has been disengaged, a further turning movement brings the portion i<2> into engagement with the lower end c<1> of the staple and forces the door open. Modifications are described in which the cam is enclosed in a casing and has handles on both sides. A spring pawl may be provided in the staple to engage teeth on the cam and secure it when in the fastening position.
