Abstract
2769. Thompson, W. P., [Ges, f³r Drahtlose Telegraphie]. Feb. 2. Aerials; directive and duplex wireless signalling.-A wireless station comprises two antennµ, one of which is formed as an aerial conductor a for transmitting purposes, and the other is formed as an earth antenna c, serving alone, or in combination with the other, for receiving purposes. The antenna c may be earthed at both ends as at d or the means for earthing the aerial antenna may be used to earth the antenna c. This means may comprise a balancing-capacity composed of a number of insulated radially-stretched wires extending from the foot of the vertical antenna. When both antennµ are used for receiving purposes, intermediate circuits are used to connect them to a common detector circuit. If the antenna a is placed symmetrically as regards the antenna c, duplex working is possible. The receiving aerial has a directive effect.
