2543. Howell, J. B. Jan. 31. Outlets; dirt, excluding.-The outlet of a tap for drinking-fountains &c. comprises a tubular piece 1, adapted to receive a nozzle 14, fitted with a ball valve 13, which restricts but does not close the orifice, so that the water will be emitted without splashing. The seating of the ball valve consists of a nipple 11 provided with oppositelydisposed lugs 12. The tubular piece may be filled with filtering - material and is similarly screw-threaded at each end so that it may be reversed for cleaning purposes.
