Abstract
1541. Siemens - Schuckertwerke. . Jan. 20, 1911, [Convention date]. Distant control of lamps &c.-Relates to the distant control of switches by means of electromagnets. A hand-switch of the retractive type is located at the control station, and a relay at the distant station in proximity to the operating electro-magnets, the arrangements being such that the relay automatically returns to an intermediate or neutral position after each operation of the electro-magnets, to open or close the switch, and that the switch is opened automatically upon overload. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, two electro-magnets e', e<2> respectively open and close a main switch s. The electro-magnets are in a separate weakcurrent circuit taken through alternative contacts of a two-position relay h. In the position shown in Fig. 1, all the operating and relay magnets are de-energized. When the hand switch g at the control station is moved to close the left-hand contact, the relay magnet r<1> is connected in circuit, and the relay makes contact on the left, thus energizing the magnet e<1>, which opens the main switch. An auxiliary switch v simultaneously thrown over by a link w excites a magnet l<1> and trips the connexion between the armature and the contact of the relay h, which is then spring-returned to its neutral position, the pawl falling back into engagement. When the hand switch is released, all parts except the main switch return to the first position. To reclose the switch, the relay is energized on the right-hand side. Overload relays u are in circuit with the magnet r<1>, in order to open the main switch automatically.
