Abstract

175. Townsend, E. C., and Mahoney, H. C. Jan. 2. Optical-projection apparatus. - Consists of a device for projecting opaque objects, either flat or solid. The casing 1 is either integral with the lantern or is secured to the back thereof by clips 20 and has hinged coverings 7, 10, 15 which can be opened for insertion or manipulation of the objects to be projected. The opening 3 may he covered by a sheet of transparent heat-absorbing substance. Solid objects may be inserted in the cavity 4: but in the case of flat objects, such as postcards &c., a holder 24 is provided having a sheet 26 of glass &c., Fig. 6, on which the card &c. is placed, and a lid 27 which is provided with a suitable opening 30 and is pressed against the card &c. by springs 28, 29 when the holder is closed. The holder is inserted in grooves 17 in the casing 1. For projecting small objects, a case 34<1>, Fig. 7, is provided which fits within the raised portion 31 of the holder 24 and within which is a plate 35 pressed forward by a spring 36 to hold the object between the plate and the glass plate 26.
