Decks.-Relates to coverings for ships' decks to prevent the corrosive action of moisture that normally finds its way between the deck and its covering. Cleats as described in Specification 1999/08 are fixed to the deck, and a layer of bitumen or bitumen compound is laid over the plating. Granite chippings are distributed over the surface of the bitumen, and a layer of magnesite composition is placed on top. The bitumen excludes moisture and secures the magnesite covering to the deck.
