Abstract
23,996. Scherf, F. Oct. 30. Mechanically operated from vehicle.-Relates to means for mechanically operating tramway points from the vehicles. Slots are formed in the track rails, at a suitable distance from the points, which are adapted to be centered by one or other of two depending wheels on the vehicles, the wheels being guided thereby so as to operate a pivoted lever connected to the points. The slots in the track rails are formed by superposed inclined surfaces 11, 6, the overhanging parts 10 being carried by plates 9 secured to the rails. Levers 13, pivoted at 12, are arranged at the bottom of the slots so as to be depressed by a wheel travelling in engagement with the surface 11. The depression of either of the levers 13 operates the point tongues 40 through a pivoted beam 16, vertical bell-cranks 26, links 29, and horizontal bell-cranks 35. The actuating wheels on the vehicles are arranged, when depressed, to run on the narrow part 2 of the rails and thus enter the slots.
