Abstract

23,468. Wallbaum, R. Dec. 3, 1910. Dust-laying compositions.-Asphalt, coal tar pitch petroleum pitch, and mixtures thereof are emulsified with naphtha acid or its salts, and used for preventing dust on roads. The materials are fused together, with or without resin or other saponifiable materials, and are then treated with boiling ammonia. Accorcling to the Provisional Specification, the asphalt &c. may be fused with saponifiable substances such as naphtha acid and treated with a boiling solution of an alkali salt, or ammonia salt, of resin, a fatty acid, or naphthenic acid, the solution preferably containing an excess of alkali or ammonia.
