Abstract

Oct. 16 Corner joints and strengthening - pieces; fittings, external.-In order to make a neat and strengthened joint between the rounded corners of the ends of trunks and the end strengthening-battens y, Fig. 1, metallic corner pieces comprising a flat surface a and a flange a', Fig. 3, curved to correspond with the inside curve of the batten, are employed. Projections b, which may take the form of a securing-nail, prevent the handle from contacting with the ground when the trunk is stood on end. The surface a may extend, in the form of a bead, beyond the flange a', and the latter may be shaped to fit over the battens and act as a wearing-surface.
