Abstract

Locking bolts.-An unthreaded bolt and nut used for rail joints are locked together by means of a pair of studs 2, Fig. 2, mounted in a transverse boring in the bolt and pressed apart by a spring 3 so as to project into recesses in the nut. A special tool for releasing the nut consists of a pair of pliers with reduced jaws 6, which are inserted into suitably-placed holes in the nut as shown.
